Vepres Siciliennes denote Sicilian masses (a painting by Francesco Hayez, rebellion of Sicily against France). This is Italy in all its beauty and complexity. An orchard of orange trees falling into the sea at that magically still time of the day when the deep afternoon heat subsides, and night is about to come. Sublimated, the sun drenched scents of a nature meet with those of the darkness ahead: Mandarin, grapefruit, orange, green leaves, pepper, cardamom, Caribbean magnolia call... Jasmine, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, tuberose, African orange blossom and heliotrope to give it creaminess and mingle with cedar, amber and oakmoss unfurls the fragrance further with only then unexpected notes of osmanthus, raspberry, clove, plum, peach are revealed, softened by a subtle accord of coconut, caramel, and vanilla.
